Every single reference to the Paris fashion video I'm about to show you featuring Stan Getz states it was taped in 1968. I say it was taped in February 1969. First, Stan Getz was in Paris then with the same group featured here—Stanley Cowell (p), Miroslav Vitous (b) and Jack DeJohnette (d). Second, Lanvin's spring collection in the clip would haven been showcased in Paris in February.
Third, I know that the Lanvin collection we see in the YouTube clip (above) was for spring '69 (see the 1969 French magazine ad below).
I reached out to Jack DeJohnette yesterday for more information about the clip and what Getz might have been laughing about, but Jack couldn't recall the event.
Now that the date is settled, sit back and watch a smitten Getz and crew try to snakecharm the models showing the latest designs created by Jules-Francois Crahay, Lanvin's celebrated head designer in the 1960s who I believe is the gentleman being interviewed during the clip. Unfortunately I can't embed the clip due to restrictions by the person who uploaded it. So simply go here to view.
