In April 1959, shortly after the release of David Allyn's album I Only Have Eyes for You, the new Warner Bros. LP came to the attention of TV talk-show host Steve Allen. David had been on Steve Allen's Sunday Night Show on NBC the previous year, and Steve wanted David on again to sing Get Out of Town from the album. At some point after the show in '59, David and Steve Allen co-wrote Pleasant Dreams, which David recorded with Bob Prince arranging and conducting (David would record it again with pianist Barry Harris in 1975).
